You’ve done the reflecting. You’ve sat with the weight of what’s holding you back. You’ve named the fears, the control, the resentment, and the habits that keep you bound. Now, it’s time to release.
I know, easier said than done. Because releasing isn’t passive—it’s an act of trust. It’s letting go of the old so God can make room for the new. But here’s the real struggle: letting go means admitting we don’t have control. It means surrendering to God’s timing, His way, His process. And that can feel terrifying.
Maybe you’ve had these thoughts:
“I want to trust God, but I still try to control how things unfold.”
“I know I need to release past hurt, but it feels impossible.”
“I desire change, but I’m scared of what’s on the other side.”
“I long for a deeper connection with God, but I struggle to let go of my own plans.”
If this is you, know that you are not alone. And you are not stuck. There’s freedom waiting for you on the other side of surrender.
What Does Releasing Look Like?
Releasing isn’t just saying, “God, I give this to You,” It’s an intentional process that includes:
Repentance – Acknowledging where you’ve been holding on and asking God to realign your heart with His will.
Forgiveness – Releasing the pain, resentment, and guilt that have been weighing you down.
Trusting God’s Timing & Process – Letting go of how you think things should go and embracing God’s way, even when it doesn’t make sense.
Vulnerability with God – Being honest about your fears, doubts, and struggles instead of pretending to have it all figured out.
How to Release Practically
Spend intentional time in prayer and worship – Create space to be with God, not just talk at Him, but sit and listen.
Meditate on scriptures that reinforce God’s love, grace, and promises – Let His Word reshape your thoughts.
Write down what you need to let go of – Be specific. Name the fears, the grudges, the self-set expectations, and commit to surrendering them.
Take one small step of faith – Whether it’s forgiving someone, saying “yes” to an opportunity that scares you, or choosing rest instead of striving—move in the direction of surrender.
Scripture Reference (NLT)
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
Journal Prompt
What is something you’ve been holding onto that you need to release? How has it been affecting your peace, clarity, or ability to move forward? What would trusting God with it look like in this season?
Action Tip
Write a “release letter” to God. In this letter, name what you are surrendering—whether it’s control, past hurt, doubt, or fear. After writing it, pray over it and physically destroy the letter (tear it up, burn it, or throw it away) as a symbolic act of letting go.
True transformation starts where control ends. The moment you release, you make space for God to move. You don’t have to have all the answers—you just have to trust the One who does. Today, choose surrender. Choose peace. Choose to let go so you can finally grow.
