The dream that changed everything: A call to leave

I am the former people pleaser, abuse survivor, hyper independent, who has turned my wounds into wholeness. I spent most of my life with rejection issues, being a high performer and living my life for others. My journey started where I went from a period of being broken and unsure of myself, my existence and purpose to now being made whole. I'm a physical therapist assistant who's been licensed for 13 years now. I found a lot of identity in this career. It is the one thing I felt great about. In my book “Made Whole” I dedicated an entire chapter to the topic of hiding behind work. I still somehow didn't think that being on my spiritual journey will impact my career. Crazy right? I know.

When you become established in God, he causes certain things to happen like leave every familiar thing behind and follow him. That familiar thing for me was leaving my job. Sometime between Sept/Oct of 2023, God showed me consistently being at work and transitioning into a different space. The dreams were so vivid of me walking down the hall and the hall somehow turns into me being in the middle of a hospital setting.

Now I struggled with this because I had no problem leaving my job, I just wanted to know where I was going next-you know, before I actually made the move. But guess what I learned to be true? God does not have to give you the next beforehand. Faith means you make the move then I give you your next step.

I felt every emotion possible, fear and doubt mainly. This assignment showed how little faith I actually had because while I wanted to do it. I didn't do it immediately. And a quote I read that I can't ever forget is "procrastination is disobedience in slow motion. It is still wrong.

A few faith scriptures to wrap up part 1 of my journey is...

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1 NLT

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NLT

Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.” Galatians 2:16 NLT.

I hope my story encourages you to take steps of faith in your own life. Sometimes, the path isn’t clear, but trust that God will guide you each step of the way.

With love and grace,
